REGISTRATION FEES AND CONFERENCE DINNER
Thank you for your interest in the international conference CARME2003 in Barcelona at the end of June. In order to attend the meeting you should complete the form which is given on the following page. Once you complete the form and click the "Send" button, you will see a page which summarizes your details and gives you a reference number for payments. Deadline for registrations as well as payments is 31 May 2003. Payments can be made by credit card or by bank transfer. Note the other deadlines for submission of papers, etc..., given under Timetable. The registration fee is 100 euros and includes all printed material, coffee breaks and the conference reception on Monday night, which coincides with the celebration of "Statistics Day" in Catalonia. Students pay a discounted registration of 50 euros.
Late registrations after 31 May 2003 will still be accepted but the costs will rise to 130 euros (regular) and 65 euros (students) respectively.
The conference dinner is optional and will be celebrated near the waterfront and the old port of Barcelona. Places at the dinner cost 60 euros per person and should be reserved with your registration as there are limited places for this event.
PRE-CONFERENCE EXCURSION
On Sunday 29 June, the day before the conference starts we plan an excursion in Barcelona and to the mountain of Montserrat, about 35 kms from the city. We are trying to make this event free to conference-goers as well as accompanying persons, apart from the costs of lunch (about 15 euros per person, to be paid at the lunch itself), so please give us an indication whether you can join us for this event, starting at about 10:30 am Sunday morning, and returning to the conference venue at about 20:00 in the evening.
ACCOMMODATION
We have a large number of rooms reserved in two university residences and two hotels, and these will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. On the accompanying registration form you will see that you can choose between hotel and residence, and also between single and double rooms (with two single beds). Since there are more double rooms than single rooms, we encourage sharing rooms as much as possible. If you are sharing a room, then only one person needs to indicate the reservation of the double room.
VERY IMPORTANT: We have these rooms reserved in a block booking from Saturday night (28 June) to Thursday morning (3 July). The reservations that we are accepting at the moment are for these days only. Once you obtain confirmation of your reservation, any changes you wish to make to your booking will have to be negotiated directly with the residence/hotel and as early as possible. We cannot be held responsible for late changes to your booking and to costs incurred as a result. Notice too that you do not have to make any payment to us in connection with your accommodation. This has to be paid directly to the hotel or residence concerned when you check in.
There are two residences, the Residencia del Mar, closer to the conference venue at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), and the Residencia dels Investigadors in the old town, a bus ride away. The prices of the residence rooms work out to be almost the same, although one residence has a slightly higher price during the week and slightly lower during the weekend. You can count on about 45 euros per night for a single room and about 70 euros for a double. We shall first allocate the rooms in the Residencia del Mar until they are all taken, and then in the Residencia dels Investigadors.
As far as hotels are concerned, we have a few rooms in a small family hotel in the old town of Barcelona, the Hotel Jardi, which is a long walk or short metro ride from the conference venue, priced at 65 euros (single) and 80 euros (double). On the other hand, you might prefer to be closer to the conference venue and very close to the beach, at the Hotel Diagonal Port , with more comfort, but this will cost you about 105 euros (single) or 125 euros (double). These prices all exclude breakfast. If you mark a hotel booking, then you should tell us in the text message box at the end of the registration form which of the two hotels you prefer.
Once rooms have been allocated we will supply the residences/hotels with details of your reservation. You will have to settle your bill directly with the residence or hotel.
PAYMENTS
Finally, payments! The payment you have to make now is only for the registration and (optionally) the conference dinner. Once you have completed the registration, you have the possibility to pay immediately by Credit Card, which is preferable. The only other possibility is to pay by bank transfer to the following account:
