The Graduate Program in Economics, Finance and Management
The Department of Economics and Business of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra offers the Graduate Programme in Economics, Finance and Management (GPEFM). The Programme seeks candidates of the highest calibre - students with outstanding academic background and the intellectual curiosity and discipline needed to succeed in a very demanding environment. English is the official language of the Programme.
Currently the Graduate Programme of the UPF Department of Economics and Business offers the following degrees:
The Master Degree is a one-year program. Those students awarded the Master degree will have acquired an excellent grounding in their field and sufficient analytical skills to enter a PhD programme or to go into a technically demanding job. The Master Degrees in Economics and in Finance are offered jointly with the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and the Master in Management with the Barcelona School of Management.
The Master of Research in Economics, Finance and Management (MRes) The aim of this master's programme is to train specialists in economics, finance and business to conduct research. These specialists will gain the tools and knowledge necessary for carrying out research projects at the cutting edge of their disciplines. They will be trained to write a doctoral thesis at the level of the most rigorous doctoral programmes in the world.
The PhD program is geared to develop students' research skills and independence of thought. The purpose of the PhD degree programme is to prepare students of exceptional talent for careers in research and teaching at the world's leading academic institutions, research centres, consulting or financial firms, and international organisations. Our PhD program is a partner in the European Doctoral Program (EDP) in Quantitative Economics, a joint initiative of the Department of Economics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the London School of Economics, the European University Institute (Florence), the Université Catholique de Louvain, the Paris School of Economics (PSE) and the Universität Bonn.
