Slovenian Millennium Song recorded at Radio Slovenia
On Thursday, 27 September 2000, at Studio 26 of Radio Slovenia,
the Millennium Song was recorded in Slovenian by the soprano
Nuska Drascek,
a student in social science at the University of Ljubljana,
and member of the well-known
APZ (Akadenski pevski zbor) choir of the University of
Ljubljana.
The same singer performed the Millennium Song
(Pesem tisocletja) for the first time on Monday evening,
24 September,
at a reception of the annual meeting of the Slovenian Statistical
Society. The whole exercise was made possible by the efforts
of Anuska Ferligoj, the organizer of the conference and translator
of the Millennium Song into Slovenian, and her husband Vlado
Batagelj, as well as the kind cooperation of Radio Slovenia.
We thank Anuska and Vlado for their enthusiasm and
to producer Djuro Penzes, head of music at Radio 1,
and Sound Engineer Dare Novak.
And Nuska!! You have made a brilliant recording!
Congratulations!
