Short Bio:

Professor of Economics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Research Professor at the Barcelona GSE and ICREA-Academia Research Fellow. Chair of the Economics and Business Department. Previously Senior Vice-president for Science Policy of UPF (2011-13). Undergraduate studies in Economics and Management at the Univesitat de València (1987). National Prize of Undergraduate Studies in Economics (highest national GPA, 1988). Ph. D. in Economics (Harvard University), 1993. Chairman of the Department of Economics and Business at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 2007 until 2010. Consultant for the OECD, the Interamerican Development Bank and the World Bank among many others. Eleven books and more than 100 publications in different journal as American Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics, Economics Letters, Applied Psychology, Journal of Economic Growth, International Journal of Industrial Organization and European Journal of Education among others.
